• Yanks Would Be Nearly Perfect In June If Not For Burnett

So far, the Yankees are 15-8 in the month of June.

Five of those eight losses have come in games started by A.J. Burnett.

Burnett is 0-5 this month and has an ERA of 11.35 in June (in 23 IP).

Amazing how one guy can be the key to just about everything bad that’s happened in one month, eh?

      Wow. That is telling.

15-8 is pretty good – if the Yankees average 2 wins every 3 games over any stretch I’m usually pretty content.

But, Burnett has been HORRIBLE. And imagine if the Yankees won just 2 or 3 those 5 losses that were on him … not to get greedy and imagine they’d won all 5. 18-5 would have been incredible and opened a very comfy division lead going into the all-star break.

A couple of things. One, I don’t get why Burnett batted in the 4th. Terrible decision. And when is Girardi going to figure out that Park stinks during his second inning of relief? He seems to be fine during that first inning of work, but it all goes to hell during the second.

I hear ya but just to play devil’s advocate, it’s not like any of the other arms in the bullpen are good so even avoiding Park’s second inning isn’t going to change things too much. Chamberlain, Marte, Robertson and Gaudin are all sorts of awful too.
