Predicting A-Rod’s 600th HR
Alex Rodriguez is two homers short of 600 career big flies. When will the big six-oh-oh show?
My gut feeling is that it could take as long as 6 to 11 more games for it to happen. And, this is where it gets interesting.
After today, the Yankees have six more games on their current homestand – two with the Angels and four with the Royals. If A-Rod hits #600 on the homestand, there will be a nice reaction for him at Yankee Stadium.
But, if Alex needs more than 6 games to reach the milestone, it could come on the Yankees next road trip – which is 3 games in Cleveland followed by 3 in Tampa Bay.
If it takes A-Rod 11 more games to get the big one, then it will come in Tampa Bay – and the reaction there should be good for him as there are many Yankees fans in Tampa.
But, what if #600 comes for Rodriguez in Cleveland? How will the crowd react to that? In fact, will there be many there, period, to see it?
In any event, what’s your prediction for when #600 comes, where, and what the reaction will be?

I’m predicting that it happens vs. the KC Royals next weekend. It would be pretty cool if A-Rod hit #500 and #600 against the same club.

A-Rod usually slows down nearing a milestone. 6 to 11 games is not unreasonable. It could be more.

I only remember A-Rod’s #500 vs. KC because (1) I know Clint was there (seen the video on YouTube) and (2) I had gone to three of six games right before that (including one in Baltimore) trying to see #500.

Alex Rodriguez’s two-run homer in the eighth inning on Monday tied him with former Yankees outfielder Dave Winfield for 28th place on baseball’s all-time home runs list. Yankees bullpen catcher Mike Borzello caught the blast — the 465th of Rodriguez’s career — in the bullpen after the ball sailed over the left-center-field fence.
Rodriguez said he doesn’t give much thought to the milestone, but the third baseman added that he enjoyed watching the Hall of Famer play.
“I love Dave Winfield,” he said.
The shot came off of Devil Rays right-hander Juan Salas and left Rodriguez 35 homers shy of the 500-homer plateau. Even so, A-Rod said that he isn’t concerned with reaching the milestone this season, though it would certainly appear within reach.
“It’s too far away right now,” he said.
