September To Remember In Yankeeland

Once the Yankees are done in Chicago, playing the White Sox, they have 32 games left to play this season. This includes:
- Seven vs. The Rays
- Six vs. The Red Sox
- Six vs. The Blue Jays
- Six vs. The Orioles
The Rays and Jays have played the Yankees close all season. And, the Red Sox will be fighting for their life. Lastly, the O’s under Buck Showalter are no longer a gimmie.
Man, it’s going to be a September to remember in Yankeeland this year, don’tcha think? Let’s hope it’s better than the one in 1974.

Isn’t it like this every September?
@ clintfsu813: When was the last time that the Yankees were tied for first in the AL East, and another team was in striking distance, around 9/1, with them all having so many games against each other?

Got me there

Nope, it wasn’t three teams back then:

Yanks actually played brilliantly in September/October 1974, going 20-11.
Orioles just play inhumanly to blow right by them, going 25-6, and moving from 3 behind to 2 ahead at the end.
