    Just a PSA for those interested in this…

    I’ve heard that the Yankees will be sending out invoices, to season ticket holders, for 2010 post-season tickets between September 8th and 10th.

    This is much later than normal for them. I wonder if this means a jack in prices this year?

      Considering they won the World Series last year, it wouldn’t surprise me. Then again, they didn’t raise ticket prices across the board for the regular season so perhaps they have another reason for delaying the playoff invoices.

      I think, but am not sure, that MLB has a say in post-season prices. But, I could be totally wrong on this.

      The MLB dictates the prices….BUT they meet with the team to make sure that they are in line with what the team currently charges…If you notice…we are 6.5 up last year….this year only 1.5…..so they are just making sure before offering 3 or 2 games in the divisional round…as well as 3 or 4 for league championship

      @ djnova23: Glad to see this page — I’ve been wondering myself.

      I’m sure that the delay has nothing to do with them deciding how many tickets to send out for each round. They would always send out the ‘theoretical maximum’ no matter what the situation looks like at the moment.
      In this case that means: 3 games for the ALDS, 4 for the ALCS, and 3 for the WS (since NL will have home-field).

      @ Steve Lombardi:
      Invoices have come out, and it looks like there might be a slight per-game increase from last year but not much (if any). The e-mail doesn’t show the game-by-game breakdown, but…..the overall amount is a little less than last year but there’s one less WS game. We’ll soon be able to see the breakdowns.

      Steve posted the breakdown in his followup entry;
