How Good Was Granderson For Yanks In 2010?

Looking at the numbers below, I would say that “Grandy” this season was about as good as Melky Cabrera in 2007, slightly better than Melky in 2009, but, not as good as Johnny Damon was in 2006.

.
But, at least, Granderson was trending upward towards the end of the season and into the post-season.

The baseball ref WAR measure understates Granderson’s value because it uses their own defensive measure R(def) instead of UZR or BIS +/-.
Even so, Damon’s year was better, primarily because his BAVG was 40 pts higher, so he created more runs with fewer outs.
I’m not sure you’re implying a comparison, but if you are, it’s the wrong one, because it doesn’t give an effective measure of the defensive difference between Damon, 2010 and Granderson, 2010.
As for next season, it remains to be seen if Granderson can work with Long to improve further, or if the league can re-adjust to Granderson’s current adjustments.
I’m hopeful he can retain a large portion of his gains the last 2 1/2 months.
Well, maybe not against Lee…
