So, I’m watching Patrick Wilson sign the national anthem before the Notre Dame-Army game at Yankee Stadium tonight and he’s wearing a Yankees jacket – and it didn’t look like it just came out of a box. Attaboy.

I was there (up in Section 405 in RF) and I cannot tell you how weird it was to see a football field at Yankee Stadium. It was cool, but totally surreal. Yankee Stadium actually makes a pretty good football stadium.

Yes, and they got to use the whole football field too! (cough, Wrigley)

For anyone under 40, it was the first time ever seeing a live football game at the Stadium, so it definitely was different.

It was nice to see the house packed, but that can be attributed to ND and the novelty of the moment. I read there are only 29,000 tickets sold for the Pinstripe Bowl, though I presume that number will really boost if they can snag Syracuse for the game.

      @ 77yankees:
Yep, I’m 35 and I’d never seen football at Yankee Stadium before. It was a great experience.

You’re absolutely right, by the way. The crowd was heavily pro-Notre Dame (including yours truly) and I’d say for every 9 ND fans, there was 1 Army fan. Other than the cadets and a handful of proud war veterans, all the regular fans in the stands were wearing ND gear.

It was considered a ND home game that’s and they got most of the tickets. That’s why it was mostly ND fans. And the pinstripe bowl will probably be sold out once its announced whose going and those schools get those tickets. I wanted to get tickets for that game but I went the Navy game instead. Really regretting that decision now.

Is there any truth to the rumor that once the football players on both sides saw the clubhouse facilities at Yankee Stadium they all signed up for spring baseball?
