Don’t know why you set the cutoff at 1920. Going back to 1901 in the AL, Jeter is still 3rd.
Personally I hope this is a record Jeter doesn’t get. I hope that by opening day 2013 Jeter will be playing 3B—heck, I hope he’s playing 3B opening day 2012—with A-Rod as the every day DH. I think the more important record is the most games played as a Yankee (2,401 by Mickey Mantle) which Jeter will break this year sometime after collecting his 3,000th hit.
