Is There A Moustache In Tex’s Future?

Tom Verducci wonders if Mark Teixeira could be the next Jason Giambi in pinstripes – and he makes some great points. Of course, this is on the field stuff. Tex will never be like the Giambino when it comes to running around off the field.

Better a moustache than a thong…

LOL!
Here’s how Tex isn’t like Giambi: He plays gold glove caliber defense.
Also, Teixeira has won a ring!!
I think that Verducci writes w/ the idea that maybe one of his ideas in 10,000 come to fruition. If a writer does this enough he makes a name for himself and a nice income. I will, right now, name this the “Gammons Effect”.
I’ve noticed the same thing. Giambi used to be a .300 hitter who utilized the whole field, then became 1 dimensional on the Yanks. Tex, while a more well-rounded player, isn’t much different than JG at the plate. Playoff pitchers have no trouble getting Tex out.

I agree with this. However, Verducci wasn’t the first to point this out.
Fangraphs and at least one Yankee-related blog discussed this several months ago.
