If the Jays could dump Vernon Wells and his remaining years, maybe anything is possible?

Wells has 4 years left, so maybe there’s hope for trading A-Rod away….after the 2013 season…

      ….if he’s still productive…

…and if you can find a sucker, uh, a partner.

Does Vernon Wells have incentives for when he reaches 300 HR?

Well if he does, he’s at 223, so the Angels are taking a big chance on him. ;-)

I’m stunned that the Jays were able to move that contract. On the surface, this is a massive fail by the Angels. By getting out from under that contract, the Jays have positioned themselves to be a better ballclub going forward. I guess Napoli slides into 1B, and Rivera will platoon with Lind`and Lewis in the OF & @ DH?

Does`this mean the Jays sign Vlad to shore up DH?

I’m shocked that Steve has not mentioned A-Rod and Cameron’s din-din the other night with Bill Clinton!

Raf, I agree. I too am shocked that they were able to move that hefty contract. This reeks of desperation by the Angels, an organization that usually doesn’t act like that. I guess they were really burned by Crawford signing with the Red Sox. You are right, this can only help the Blue Jays going forward.

And, by the way, I don’t see anyone ever taking that ridiculous A-Rod contract off our hands.

Not surprised at all by Wells getting dealt. Alex Anthopoulos is a pretty shrewd AND low key guy.The Jays were a like the twenties in terms of their farm system when he took over now they are something like 5th now. He’s been very proactive even getting rid of Marcum, who wasn’t dominant against AL East teams and they had a chance to land a number one pick/high ceiling kid for him.

As for the money the Golden Greek aka Anthopoulos cajoled Tony Reagins(who gets the Omar MInaya award for Gross Stupidity here) into taking the money. And truth be told Napoli and Rivera is an OK catch for them because he try to turn around and get the draft picks when they leave Toronto. AA is a very smart and shrewd GM ,he’s building a great team up there.

As for Arod, there is so much money left on his contract and his hip is so fragile who would really wnat him? The Yankees would have to eat soe of that money. Or maybe they will trade him to the Bluebirds and Anthopoulos will turn him around for younger better prospects!:)

I actually disagree. The Angels front office hasn’t impressed me for years. The same team that signed Gary Matthews Jr. to an absurd contract and then followed it up by signing Torii Hunter to more money for the same position has now made another absurd decision.

The Angels haven’t been the same since Bill Stoneman left and Tony Reagins took over. He and Arte Moreno are a toxic mix of cowardice, bluster and stupidity.
