I wonder how many other teams that don’t do this will start doing it, even if there’s less of a pressing need in their smaller markets. It certainly couldn’t hurt.
Most teams put their rookie prospects through a training session these days during the offseason.

Ironically, the person who probably needed this media training the most in the winter of 2008 was the manager.
Yes, there are many NY print and radio people who are simply rectums with laptops and microphones, but the PR brass had to impress upon Girardi that getting into alpha dog nightly pi–ing matches with them was not the way to go.
