The Grounds Of Old Yankee Stadium, April 3, 2011

If you stand on the southwest corner of River Avenue and 161st Street, at the site of the old Yankee Stadium, there’s a viewing hole in the contruction site fence. And, looking in, today, this is what I saw, below.
Pretty cool, with the old “bat” in the background.

I don’t remember the plans, were they supposed to put 2 diamonds there? It’s odd, at least to me, that they wouldn’t or didn’t use the footprint of the original diamond. Would’ve been a nice touch.

There was also a rectangular patch nearest to the garage. I have no idea what that is being used for.
