Gone are the B, D and 4 trains. Now, we have the grey, pinstriped, and “Subway” trains – if I recall them, correctly, from today’s game.

What a bummer. What’s next? “New York, New York” sung by the Lobel’s Steak Sandwich Singers after a Yankees win?

“Subway” as in the sandwich shop?

Hmmm, if that’s the case, I’d be surprised if they ever lose a race :D . Seriously, I wonder how much they paid for the sponsorship.

They could do away with that and nobody would notice the same way they could do away with Cotton Eyed Joe and the Was Novel 15 Years Ago Y-M-C-A.

But still, no idea is lamer than the Red Sox adopting “Sweet Caroline” – a song that has nothing to do with baseball by a guy from Brooklyn as their unofficial Fenway anthem.

      Good news:

The B, D and 4 trains will be back in the Great New York Subway Race at Yankee Stadium Wednesday night.

Following a Daily News report Wednesday about a misunderstanding between the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the Yankees over a sponsorship arrangement, the MTA and the Yankees have agreed to return the subway lines to the popular animated scoreboard segment.

The B, D and 4 train markings were noticeably missing in action during the first five games of the season, replaced by “Road Gray,” “Midnight Blue” and “Pinstripes,” leaving many die-hard fans wondering what had happened to the regular trains.

The MTA, which had lent the use of the subway lines to the Yankees for years at no cost, was not looking to cash in on the Yankees’ sponsorship deal with Subway restaurants, according to the authority. Instead, the MTA asked for a tagline urging fans to use mass transit to travel to and from games.

A source said the agreement was reached on Wednesday morning. The B, D and 4 markings are expected to return for Wednesday night’s game.

The segment runs in the middle of the fourth inning during every Yankees home game.
