Happy Mother’s Day!” to all the Moms out there today. (Holy cow! Where would we be without Mom?)
Mother's Day souvenir charm issued to fans on Mother's Day in 1967 - which was also the date of Mickey Mantle's 500th career homerun.
My mom was a Dodgers’ fan (she liked “Pee Wee” Reese). My niece is a mom now and she’s also a Yankees fan (she likes Derek Jeter). Something about moms and shortstops, I guess.
BTW last night Derek Jeter appeared in his 2,303rd game at SS, pushing him past Cal Ripken (2302) for 4th place all time on the list. Jeter now trails Ozzie Smith (2511) by 208 games at short for 3rd place. Would you like to see him make it?

Why, no!!!! Why would we want that???
Jeter is washed up and finished!!! All Jeter is is a .250 singles hitter, who should be hitting 9th and DH’ing.
That’s what all the nameless scouts and Joel Sherman say.
And everyone knows the nameless scouts and Joel Sherman are never wrong.
7:45 am: My house. Leaving for a mother’s day breakfast. Me, my wife, and my two kids. My son, seven, insists on wearing his fitted Yankees cap (~$30 at the Stadium) and his Yankee home jersey with a #2 on the back, with no name ($70 at the Yankees Store on W42nd St.).
We said to him – it’s going to be too hot outside for all that, etc. But, he insisted.
He wore it out to breakfast, then for our walk at the beach, and then to the Garden Center at Lowe’s.
Jeter goes up to go 4-for-4 with two homeruns.
Derek should send my kid a check.
@ Steve Lombardi:
Sounds like a nice day. Give your son a big thanks from all of us Yankee fans.
