I was disgusted by getting swept by the Red Sox the previous 3 games and decided to watch Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals instead. I couldn’t stand the idea of losing three in a row to Boston (0-8 at the time) then dropping a game at home to the Mets, so I turned to hockey.
Hockey didn’t disappoint, but I still wish I had seen this live.
I was at that game. Great memory.

@ YankCrank:
It also helps that you’re a Pens fan, correct?!

That is correct

As was I. Good times.
I always thought that play was the end of the Mets season.
I think of this game whenever the Yanks lose a game “they had no business losing”.
It happens. To all teams. Every year. In both directions.
