Joba Chamberlain will be out for at least the next three weeks after he was placed on the disabled list with a strained flexor muscle in his right elbow. Jeff Marquez has been claimed off waivers. Also, Hector Noesi has been sent back to AAA – Amaury Sanit has been called up to take his place.

No pressure A.J., no pressure at all.

Also, Yanks are without Jorge Posada tonight (son’s surgery) and Russell Martin has sore back. No pressure Francisco, no pressure at all.

I can’t even pretend to hide my delight. Not seeing the shapeless blob for three weeks will be a very pleasant vacation for me. Hopefully while he’s out on the mend he remembers to eat something other than Taco Bell six times a day.

Noesi was sent down to remain stretched out as a potential replacement for the rotation (Garcia/Nova insurance). Sanit and Marquez will be gone within a week, likely to be replaced by better internal options (David Phelps, for example).

      @ MJ Recanati:

I haven’t been much of a fan of the “shapeless blob” either but he’s been better this year compared to the last 2, kept his ERA under 3.

I had to laugh at Girardi saying, “His arm has been a little tender the last couple of weeks, so we’ve been careful with him in what we’ve done,”. This after keeping him in for 35 pitches the other night.

OK, so now at least we know why he was throwing 94, 93, 92, 91 in Anaheim the other day, pitching while on 3 days’ rest. That makes sense.

Two players on the bench tonight with no backup catcher?

But it’s more important for the manager to have 12 pitchers at his disposal…..well, 11 pitchers and Lance Pendleton, who Girardi won’t use anyway.

…and then he was forced to use Pendleton…too long.

      @ Evan3457:

It’s like the Joe Torre syndrome, where he let Edwar Ramirez rot in the bullpen as a rookie for 10 days, then when he finally throws him in there he gets lit up because he’s rusty.

And when Cervelli got hit in the onions by that foul tip, I was like, oh brother, we’re gonna see Swisher catching……although he may have made fewer errors behind the plate than Cervelli.

Rumor circulating on Twitter that Joba could be out for the season.

If true, goodbye and good riddance.
