Brett Gardner Vs. Jacoby Ellsbury

I brought one of my older debates to a larger audience yesterday. Thought you would enjoy seeing some of the comments on it there. Free free to discuss it here too.

Good work!
I’d take Gardner over Ellsbury. It’s close, but I believe Gardner has the edge defensively, as well as in durability. I would like to see Gardner better utilize his speed on the basepaths, but admittedly, it’s a minor quibble.
I think they are both borderline starting OF for teams like NY and BOS. Both of these teams value hitting and especially extra base hits, no matter what they may say. Ellsbury has the edge on that but he is also inconsistent at the plate. They both make great defensive plays. I think Gardy has a better arm. It’s close but I take Ellsbury because of his edge in offense. (I’m not a stats guy. These are gut impressions.)
I might take Ellsbury because he is cuter. Hey, nothing wrong with a little eye candy while watching the games.
