Balls
Took the kids to see the Lakewood BlueClaws host the Delmarva Shorebirds this evening. It was a beautiful summer night at the ballpark – after all that rain we had on Sunday and early Monday. “The Chicken” was at the game – and the kids got lots of autographs before the contest. (In case you’re scoring at home, it was Mario Hollands, Mike McGuire, Lisalberto Bonilla, Ervis Manzanillo, Ryan Minor, Jose Hernandez, Garabez Rosa, Kyle Simon, Michael Planeta, Jacob Julius, Cameron Roth, Matt Bywater, Mike Wright and “The Chicken” – Ted Giannoulas.)

Hey, I was at Frontier Field today to watch the Rochester Red Wings take on the Columbus Clippers in a double header, and guess who was playing 1st base for Columbus in the second game? NICK JOHNSON! He struck out, walked and dropped a soft liner single in front of the right fielder in 3 plate appearances—he’s batting below the Mendoza Line these days. Oh, Nick! “The saddest words of tongue or pen etc. etc.”
Well now, the Yankees are tied for the best record in the league and are 9 games up in the Wild Card. Just imagine where they’d be if they were playing well!

Nice facility, wish it were in a better city
I actually liked Rochester, when I finally got used to it, and was looking to move back. If the job market up there was a little better, I’d have stayed. The winters can be miserable, but the spring and summer more than make up for it.
Anyone go see Flash’s Rockland Boulders yet?

I’ve been trying to make a game up there, haven’t yet.
Is that the same Ryan Minor who “ended” Cal Ripken’s consecutive games streak?
Yup. He’s the MGR for the Delmarva Shorebirds. And, Jose Hernandez is their batting coach and former big leaguer.
