WasWatching.com Water Cooler Talk 8/26/11
Feel free to use this entry as a place for you to comment on anything Yankees-related (or within reach of tagging the bag of being Yankees-related on a decent slide) today. It could be a casual conversation offering, or, something you saw in the news, or something very detailed that you want to share that’s within the territory of Yankeeland.
Just remember: keep it Yankees-focused.
Also, feel free to use this post as a place to share your opinions, observations, complaints, rooting, and other sundry comments with fellow fans during the playing of the Yankees game today (if there is one).
Or, comment on something that someone else has posted here in the comments…
And, of course, please, also be mindful of the WasWatching.com Community Standards.

OK…..I have been gone for about two weeks…….what is with the “Water Cooler Chat”….and where did the articles/opinion pieces go?
Vacation? Boycott? Just said the heck with it??
I enjoy this page alot, but not this chat stuff.
Thanks
Troy
More like a vacation. It’s a way for the readers to start whatever thread they want without having to create a post.
@ PocketAces:
Steve’s swamped with personal stuff.
Another day, another lousy effort from the starters. Better now than October, I suppose, but it’s a bit annoying.
Maddening that they still run AJ out there as if he belonged on the mound as a starter in the Yankees’ rotation, but even more maddening that he isn’t on a retractable leash that would jerk him back to the dugout long before he did this much damage.
Let this be the last time.
Giardi needs to do the “Godfather Slap” to Burnett and tell him to “start pitching like a man! Like a Man!”
Girardi needs to start managing like a man. Then he’ll be in a position to demand that Burnett start pitching like a man.
There was no need to leave him in to save the pen tonight since there’ll be a day off tomorrow and possibly Sunday as well.
No excuses.

This may have been a “lesson” start. I thought that he was taking one for the team.
Wow, Swisher crushed that ball.
A shame what happened with Mike Flanagan.
I’m still irked that Garcia was jerked around to make room for this clown. Garcia may not have the “stuff” but he’s been everything we could’ve asked for and more.
Well I (mercifully) missed the game tonight. Took my neice to see The Bodies exhibit – it was awesome. The only good thing about tonight’s game was that it was AJ that got slapped around – maybe now Girardi and Cashman will finally demote him to the pen. If tonight’s game wasn’t proof enough, then I don’t know what is. If AJ isn’t the odd man out, then Cashman is the one not smoking the old “objective pipe”.

Apparently, AJ doesn’t have the “stuff” either.

I agree. Burnett was pissed when Girardi took him out so early in his last start so this time Joe might have let him get slapped around a bit.
@ cr1: I don’t follow your logic on this at all. You have a game that was over very quickly. The idea, as I see it (besides keeping a lot of young bullpen arms from blowing up), is to allow Burnett to figure it out while he’s in the game. Unless your his agent, then why worry about Burnett taking one for the team? If the Yankees were getting only 75% of what they’ve guaranteed to their employee they’d be 3-5 games up on the Red Sox. He’s talked the talk since he came up in Miami, but when he’s on the mound he’s been a rich man’s Daniel Cabrera. And Joe Giardi isn’t on the mound throwing all those sloppy, gutless innings for him…. Enough of this blame shifting talk.
