Colon’s Last 10 Starts = Just As Bad As Burnett

In Bartolo Colon’s last 10 starts, his ERA is 4.80 (in 54.3 IP). During this time, he’s allowed a BA/OBA/SLG line of .303/.351/.507 (facing 239 batters). How bad is that? It’s “A.J. Burnett” material.
When you combine that with how bad Phil Hughes has been…Ivan Nova has to be the Yankees #2 starter in the post-season, doesn’t he?

No, not really.
Colon’s ERA in his last 10 starts is 4.53, the Yanks are 5-5 in his last 10 starts. His triple slash line is .290/.329/.489, and his K/BB is 44/13 in those 55 innings. He’s allowed 8 HR. His K/9 is 7.2, the BB/9 is 2.2, the K/BB is 3.4.
Even assuming you’re not comparing Colon’s last 10 to AJ’s last 10, and just comparing Colon to AJ’s last two seasons, Colon’s still significantly better. He was actually OK yesterday, 2 solo HRs, the Jays needed some luck to get the other two runs, and He struck out 7 and walked 1.
Starting pitching remains the Yankees problem in the postseason. Even CC has had a hard time w/ good hitting teams.
BTW, I’ve been w/o power since a couple of days after the storm. Finally got restored last night. Had to listen to the Yanks – Red Sox games on an old transistor radio. It reminded me of the days when the Yanks were only on WPIX and didn’t broadcast most games. I usually fell asleep listening to the games on the radio. Of course, John Sterling and Suzn Waldman are very different than the Scooter and Bill White but I enjoyed them very much.
One more BTW…I just finished reading Bill White’s “Uppity”. It’s really a very good book. Excellent telling about race in baseball and America, his days w/ the Scooter, and as the president of the Nat’l League.
@ Evan3457:
You need to check your last 10 games stats. I got mine from B-R.com this AM.
