Leader Jeter

Is it just me, or, does Derek Jeter have an excellent shot at leading the Yankees in hitting this season?
Batting average, that is.
Wouldn’t that be something?

Yes, he has a shot.
Sort of off topic, but at least 1/4 of his contract (4th year option)was worth the money.
The only “number” that means anything is World Series Champ, but although some numbers are down he is performing very well for a team that can afford to pay him.
I enjoy this site a great deal, and I am sure I can find stats that show he is in decline/terrible/overpaid……but he has performed better than last year and the team is on the verge of winning the division.
Of course…..there is only one number that means anything…..
It’s really great to see how well he’s done since the begining of July. I’m sure the continued excellent performance has given him confidence each time at bat. He’s quieted the doubters, including Cashman, and proven them wrong. It’s got to make him feel great. It sure has made me enjoy reminding those I knew who told me he was done, washed up, just to give him a chance.

I hear what you’re saying but $16M a year is still an awful lot of money for a .298/5/57 SS with diminished range and speed. But it sure was nice to see him have a bounce back year.
I was surprised he’s up to 3,082 hits already. Seems like he got 3,000 yesterday.
I freely admit that I’m glad I was wrong about Jeter.
