    It’s funny.

Some think that Russell Martin’s 7th inning At Bat on September 1st this year was the beginning of the end for the Red Sox this season.

And, now, Martin’s 6th inning At Bat today just might have been the spark that got the Rays into the post-season this year.

The dude is like Zelig or something.

We need a “What happens Wednesday night?” poll. Rays win the WC, Boston wins WC, they both win, or both lose.

So, wait? Are we afraid of the Sox more (sneaking in and then with the pressure off, running wild in the post-season), or the Rays more (huge comeback, all that starting pitching)?

Or are we afraid of the Rangers more (deep lineup, they beat us last year)?
Or are we afraid of the Tigers more (Verlander, Fister, Valverde, Cabrera, Avila, and Martinez and they won 3 of 4 from the Yanks in Detroit in the big park with no HRs)?

In the play/movie 1776 after the Declaration is introduced to the Continental Congress, the friends of Adams, Jefferson and Franklin are picking off bits and pieces of the original declaration, worrying that certain parts will upset and offend the people their aimed at. At which point, Adams slams his hand on a desk and shouts: “This is a revolution, damn it; we’re going to have offend SOMEBODY.”

Well, this is the playoffs, damn it; the Yanks are going to have defeat SOMEBODY. If people are afraid of every other team, maybe the Yanks should forget about it and just go home.

I’ll admit I’ve been torn. Would it be better (in terms of sheer pleasure, not post-season outcomes) if the Sox lost to the Rays in a one-game play-off or if the Rays beat the Yankees in the final game while the Sox lose to the lowly Orioles?

      @ Evan3457:
im really only scared of the Tigers. Verlander scares the most. whether its facing him twice in a 5 game or 3 times in 7 games that scares me.

@ Scout, it would be more fun if the Sunrays beat the Bombers and the Red Pox were defeated by the lowly Blackbirds. I’m sick of seeing Assmouth Papelbone ,Big Flappi, Agone, Tek the Lumberjack and Pedroia the Wolf Boy. Put them to rest already. Then again this is the same manager that got them out of that impossible situation in 2004 folks…..
