Even as a NRI to the post-season, Jeter was a top stepper…
I share this with the hope it brings the boys some luck tonight. Enjoy the game ya’ll.

Still gives me chills. Unfortunately, being in Nebraska during the Baseball Network failed experiment, this game was not on TV in our market so I didn’t see this live!
What you don’t see here is how a near-riot broke out in Yankee Stadium with delirious Yankee fans celebrating, and Sweet Lou pulling his team off the field until things settled down. What a great moment.
I was there. Best game I attended up until Cone’s perfect game.
Sierra went deep and the crowd was still buzzing when Mattingly went deep. Stuff started raining from the upper deck, and Piniella pulled his team off the field. Sheppard kept trying to calm the fans down with reminders not to throw stuff onto the field, and the potential for a forfeit existed.
Leyritz went deep to win it, and I remember hearing 56k singing along with Sinatra and chanting “sweep!”
