Time to play the “I Spy” game again

Watching Jesus Montero bat this evening…when I look at him…I see a slightly shorter version of Corey Hart.

And, it would not shock me if Montero peaks out at .280/25/90 when he matures.

Hey, that’s not terrible.  And, it might  land you in a few All-Star Games and get you some MVP votes.

Of course, it would be wonderful if he did that as a serviceable catcher.  Do that as a back-stop for a decade and people start talking about Cooperstown.  But, they jury is still out on whether or not this kid can catch.

It’s a shame no one ever hit him some flies in the outfield during BP or something.  It would be interesting to see if he could handle it.  Then again, first base would be a natural for him – although Teixeira’s contract has that route blocked.

I cannot believe that the HOF is selling these shirts.

We can thank 2004 for all of this, of course.

Eduardo Nunez has played in more games this season for the Yankees than Alex Rodriguez. And, at this moment, Francisco Cervelli is hitting 18 points higher than Mark Teixeira.

Since June 1st of last year, Burnett has made 49 starts for the Yankees, throwing 276.3 innings, and his ERA over these games is 5.80.

If that ain’t a wad of data to fill your objective pipe, what is?

    Most Under-Appreciated Yankees Of All-Time

I’m thinking it has to be Roy White and Mel Stottlemyre.

Willie Randolph and Dave Righetti could be in the team picture too.

    Am I missing anyone?

Forty years from now, it could be Bernie Williams and Andy Pettitte. But, I’m hoping that the team won’t let that happen.
