Well, that ain’t so pretty, is it?

Not pretty at all but the only positive you could take out of those stats is that his most recent outings in 2009, 2010 and 2011 were early in the season and CC is known to be a notoriously slow starter.
Hey, I’m trying to be optimistic …
Girardi’s decision making this week has been nothing short of horrible. He needed to think long term and to me Tampa Bay at the end of the year was clearly a bigger threat than the dead man walking Boston. But today, today takes the cake. Why didn’t Girardi start CC? If CC was ready to take the ball, it’s a no brainer. Now CC is up against the best in the American League, what happens if the Yanks don’t win. Can you imagine the entire season riding on an effective A.J. start. At the very least, don’t you pull Garcia after 5, why take the risk.
I agree, especially pull him in the 6th before he faces Cabrera. And Jeter’s error didn’t help. Saving Robertson as the “8th inning guy” is foolishness. The guy lives to wiggle out of jams.
The numbers are from years past,2007 and 2009, not much bearing on tonight’s game.
I wouldn’t have pitched CC yesterday at all. If he would have pitched yesterday and lost, the way the Yanks were NOT hitting, you would have had Garcia today against their ACE!

Of all the mistakes Girardi made yesterday, not starting CC was the least egregious.
