Bill Petti did a great interview with Brian Kenny where they talked about his new show on the MLB Network – Clubhouse Confidential.

I’m looking forward to checking this one out.

I love the MLB Network. It’s funny, I rarely tune to it as a planned event. Most times, when there’s nothing else on TV, I will click over to the MLB Network. And, more times than not, when I do, there’s something on that catches my interest and I stay with it.

It’s just wonderful to have a TV option available, 24/7, that’s all baseball and nothing else.

Speaking of MLB Network, LoHud mentioned the following:

Wade Boggs and Jim Rice are the guests on tonight’s episode of Studio 42 with Bob Costas. During the interview, Boggs is asked about Derek Jeter joining the 3,000-hit club, and he uses that to predict a unanimous Hall of Fame vote in Jeter’s future.

“That’s the way he does things,” Boggs said. “He’s the master of Hollywood scripting, he’s the master of it… Whenever anything revolves around doing something special, Derek’s always involved with it and I’ve got good company now… Within six, seven, eight, nine years down the road, he’s going to be sitting right here (in Cooperstown) walking around the veranda, easily. He may be the only guy to get 100 percent of the vote.”

The interview with Boggs and Rice airs at 9 p.m. ET on MLB Network.

I saw the Boggs and Rice interview (mostly Boggs interview, really) yesterday. It was really good, I recommend it.

Speaking of MLB Network, Brian Kenny on that clubhouse confidential show proposed the following change to the playoff system:

      2 Wild Cards
      3 Game Wild Card Series
7 Game Division Series (with the wild card team possibly getting only 2 home games)
      7 game LCS
      1 game WS

I’m totally against a 1 game WS, but I see his points about making the game epic and how it would be the highest rated game in mlb history.

      @ Corey Italiano:
      Ugh…hate it.

I’m completely and totally opposed to adding another playoff team. Why make the regular season more meaningless and the post-season even more random?

Moreover, why allow the “worst” teams (the Wild Cards) the greater chance to make it through but make the championship a one-game scenario where literally anything can happen? Wouldn’t the championship be all about trying to find the most deserving champion? A one-game scenario means that the littelest thing — a blown call, a six hour rain delay, a line drive that takes out a team’s best starter — can decide the entire championship.

      That’s just f***ing dumb.

Yeah, but it’s a money grab at this point.

      No doubt about it.
