Apparently, the league feels that it would be unacceptable for New York to play either Kansas City or Oakland every day.

…and what does the title of this thread refer to?
They Yankees espressed desire to play crap teams everyday…as evidenced by their overall won/loss record and performance against said crappy teams.
ya ya ya we know; was waiting for this thread.

Oh, so this is not a real article. Thought it was.
So far, there are only 3 very good teams in the AL this year, the Rays, the Rangers and the O’s.
Yanks are 8-9 against them.

And, from another thread, the O’s pitching staff sucks as bad as ours does which should then mean that the O’s suck too.
Just because Steve keeps recycling this thread over and over again does not make his point any less valid. Most good teams do well against bad teams but the Yankees absolutely FEAST off bad teams and oftentimes struggle against good teams. This sad fact is evidenced by their early exits in the playoffs. In the last 10 years, the only team the Yankees have beaten in the first round of the playoffs is the Minnesota Twins. They are 4-0 against the Twins and 0-5 against everyone else. Essentially, if we are not playing the Twins we are getting our butts kicked.
The Yankees dominance against bad teams has propelled them to the playoffs 9 of the last 10 years. Cashman has built teams that are just good enough to make the playoffs. Problem is, he hasn’t built teams that are good enough to do any real damage when they get there.

You may want to take a closer look at those playoff teams and how the Yankees matched up against them in the regular season.
2011: Lost 3-2 vs the Tigers, 3-4 in the regular season
2010: Beat Twins 3-0, 4-2 regular season. Lost 4-2 to Rangers, 4-4 in regular season
2009: Beat Twins 3-0, 7-0 regular season. Beat Angels 4-2, 5-5 in regular season
2007: Lost 3-1 vs Indians, 6-0 regular season
2006: Lost 3-1 vs Tigers, 5-2 regular season
2005: Lost 3-2 vs Angels, 4-6 regular season
Steve can keep recycling the same theme over and over again, but it doesn’t make it any more true. The Yanks have won and lost with great to poor pitching.
Anything can happen in a short series like the playoffs.
