      Out of this list, who really had a good, extended tenure with the Yanks? Mo, Rags, Duque, Mendoza. Guess you can throw in CMW & Wickman – maybe Hitchcock & Kamieniecki for the short term too. Jury’s still out on Hughes.

      Then there were the ones who had successful or serviceable careers elsewhere: Leiter, Tewksbury, Westbrook, Nelson, Deshaies. Tentatively put Kennedy & Clippard on that list as well.

      Besides that, basically two thirds of this list either got injured, was ineffective, or couldn’t sustain a consistent level of success.

      Although as a disclaimer, this list excludes some successful arms those who made their debut as relievers. (Jose Rijo, Doug Drabek, Pettitte, etc.) Nevertheless, it’s alarming what a crap shoot pitching can be.
