So far, the Mets are 4-13 in the month of July.
That’s pretty hard to do, isn’t it?

Now that Hans Gruber’s knuckleball is being smacked all over the yard, isn’t it curious we’re no longer getting “daily” tabloid stories about his every move from his book’s co-author?

Moreover, no more talk about how Dickey will reel off one of the best four-year stretches in baseball history.
It was a great story and I’m glad Dickey — who seems like a decent guy — was able to parlay it into some dough for himself and his family. But I’m also not sorry to see the Mets being smacked back down to their rightful place.
It was a nice story to see he overcame what he went through in his life. But really, the incessant whining about him not starting the AS Game got to be a bit much.

Subjectively, yes, I agree.
Objectively, he should’ve been starting the ASG based on the fact that he had the best first half of any pitcher in the NL (with apologies to Cain who was also excellent and had a perfecto thrown in there too). Tony Larussa’s excuse that Posey couldn’t catch a knuckleballer was absurd and fanned the flames of the debate because of how transparently stupid that statement was.

Seems the Mets are pretty well schooled at it.
It’s become sort of an annual feature of the Mets season, like Old Timers’ Day for the Yankees.
