Ugly Game

Are you kidding me with this one?
- Leaving the bases loaded to end the 1st inning.
- The way the 2nd inning ended at the plate.
- Garcia imploding in the 5th inning.
- Joba in the 6th inning.
- Logan in the 7th inning.
- Lowe in the 8th inning.
What more can I say?

Joba is toast!
Allowing 9 runs over the last 4 innings of a game that you were leading? How the hell does that happen?
You could have mentioned the 191 pitches that ate into the Yankees staff. What the hell?
The Yankees should ALWAYS win games when the starter is out during the second inning. Hopefully Girardi had some veins pulsing in his face when he got into the locker room…..

I just wish Girardi would stop putting Chamberlain into close games at this point.
Who else could he have used in that spot given the inning and recent workloads?
@ MJ Recanati:
And Logan too.

They could call up a fresh arm from the minors. Chamberlain is clearly not MLB ready right now. Time to send him back down if he can’t help the big club.
MJ Recanati wrote:
Agreed, 100%. But, there’s only a few games left in the minors.

Then time’s a wastin’ with him up here. They need him to be a shutdown guy in the back of the bullpen and since he’s clearly not that right now, get him to the team formerly known as Scranton for the next week to shake all that rust out of him.
Upon further consideration of your earlier question (who should they have brought in), I’d say Derek Lowe. If your starter can’t go past five then you bring in the long man. That’s what Lowe is at this point.
Fair point on Lowe.
By the way, is it just me, or, is Robinson Cano’s baserunning really been terrible lately?

A lot of things about Cano have been terrible lately. He was never a hustler but lately it seems like he doesn’t run anything out.
MJ Recanati wrote:
Can they do that? I thought he had too much service time to be sent down?
@ MJ Recanati: That’s one thing – dogging it to first.
But, on the game I was at on the 16th, he failed to score and stopped at 3rd on one play and it drove those around me nuts. And, last night he was out at the plate by 10 feet.
MJ Recanati wrote:
Agreed.
I’m getting a bit worried that Girardi has too many options in the pen

Yeah, he isn’t ready. I think they should not have counted on him pitching meaningful innings this year.
