Red Sox Not Giving The Yankees Much Of A Fight?
Via the Globe -
According to a major league source, Orioles folks weren’t thrilled to see the Red Sox lineup Monday night. Dustin Pedroia was out with a jammed left finger and Jacoby Ellsbury, who has been nursing a lat strain, also was held out against Sabathia.
The entire Red Sox roster has been a joke since the big deal with the Dodgers.
“Can’t wait to watch the Pawtucket Red Sox against the Yankees in a game that’s pretty important to the AL East race,” said a longtime National League scout. “Are the Red Sox trying to help the Yankees win this thing? I’ve never seen such a weak roster.”
Said another major league official, “The Yankees have five potential Hall of Famers at the top of their order. The Red Sox have guys who don’t even know where the Hall of Fame is.”
I also heard on the radio this morning that there were five guys starting for the Yankees last night, who, individually, made more money than the entire Red Sox starting line-up. (I assume the five included Jeter, A-Rod, Tex, and Sabathia.) Per the story, the Boston line-up had a combined salary of $12.5 million.
But, hey, it is what it is, right? If the Sox have guys who are hurt, what are they supposed to do, play them anyway?

Pretty much the same lineup that was run out against Baltimore, not to mention the Sox rotation was shuffled so that the Orioles got to face Zach Stewart and the Yankees met the ostensibly better Buchholz.
@ JeremyM:
Exactly. I wanted the Red Sox to give the Orioles a little payback for knocking them out last year. Didn’t happen, the Sox rolled over 4 out of 5 games last two series. Works both ways.
