Are The Yankees Robinson Cano’s Team?

You hear this often these days: The Yankees may have Jeter, A-Rod, Teixeira and others; but, right now, this is Robinson Cano’s team.
By this, I assume, people mean that Cano is to the Yankees as Miguel Cabrera is to the Tigers and as Evan Longoria is to the Rays and as Barry Bonds was to the Giants, back in the day, etc.
I understand how people could feel this way. But, it still feels weird, for me, as a Yankees fan, to think of this team as being Cano’s team. Is this just me?

Is this Cano’s team? NFW.
I sort of see Cano like Manny Ramirez when he was on the Red Sox. Great hitter. Vital part of the offense. But, the Red Sox were not Manny’s team.
No knock on Cano. He plays everyday, yadda, yadda.
But, he is not the leader or the face of the Yankees, in my book. But, again, maybe I am in the minority here.
To me, it’s Jeter’s team. He’s the captain. He leads by example, average, clutch, etc.
I hope Cano stays hot. He’ll be a major asset. esp if Arod and Tex blow it again.
He’s the only elite hitter the Yanks have who’s still in his prime.
So: yes. They go when he hits, and when he doesn’t hit, the offense short circuits.
