Looking forward to the wildcard games today?

This post-season is interesting.  Pick any of the 10 teams still playing.  You can make a case for any of them to win it all, or, for them to get bounced in their first chance to be eliminated.  So, it’s hard for me to pick who will win these games today.

I’m rooting for the Orioles tonight – solely because I don’t think they deserve to have their season end without the prize of playing in at least one post-season series that’s more than one game.  They earned that right, in my book.  Their story is one of the best in baseball this year.

In the National League, to be honest, I would have preferred to see the Dodgers get that second wild card, over St. Louis, just because it would have been fun to see Don Mattingly manage in the post-season.  And, I think the Cardinals only got the berth because Los Angeles tanked it, in a way, going 44-51 after getting off to a hot start.  Also, I  think that the Cards under-achieved  this season.  So, I guess I am rooting for the Braves, by default.  But, there’s nothing about Atlanta that really makes me want to root for them.  This one is like a presidential election for me where both candidates don’t thrill you, but, you have  to pick one – and somebody has to win.

Who do you like today to win?  And, who are you rooting for and why?

Have to go with both home teams. Medlen has been lights out for the Braves, and expect Texas to hold serve…..unless maybe Josh Hamilton ends up in the ER with a case of athlete’s foot or some other bizarre Pavano-esque malady.

Rooting for: an asteroid to hit, because I can’t stand either team.
Believe that: Baltimore will find a way to pull it out.

Rooting for: Atlanta. I have Cardinals fatigue.
Believe that: Atlanta will win, because the Braves never lose when Kris Medlen is on the mound.
