    The story.

    Sad. This should be a happy time for Joe. And, while he father was very ill, this will obviously weigh heavy on his heart.

      Per the Yankees: The Yankees mourn the pass of Jerry Girardi at age 81. Girardi, the father of Yankees manager Joe Girardi, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 6.

      So, he died 5 days ago? Amazing that Joe kept it quiet. Strange.

      Not much worse than having a parent in deteriorating health knowing there is nothing you can do. Thoughts go out to the Girardi family.

      You know, maybe he just didn’t want it being used as a “win one for the gipper” type deal?
