    Is it possible that, if Jim Johnson did his job in Game 1 and 3 of the ALDS, then the Orioles would have swept the Yankees by now?

      Certainly Jim Johnson blew a win in Game 3, considering he was two outs away from locking up the win for the Orioles.

      Game 1 was tied 2-2 in the ninth so I don’t think that Johnson cost his team a chance to win by giving up Martin’s HR. Obviously limiting the damage there would’ve given the O’s a chance to win but I don’t think Johnson’s troubles in Game 1 can be compared to what happened in Game 3 where he very clearly blew a win.

      What happened to The Orioles are 68-0 when leading after 8 innings, or The Orioles won 45 straight extra inning games or whatever???

      Oh, that’s right. :-)

      The most amazing stat I saw last night was that the O’s are the first team since 1900 to have avoided a walk-off loss in the regular season. Shows you just how incredible their run has been in 2012 and how automatic their wins were after leading through 8 innings.

      But just as incredible it can all be blown up in one game. (See Dennis Eckersley, 1988 for example)

      Yeah, I was surprised at that too. Same thing with Ibanez being the only player in postseason history to hit game tying and game winning HR’s.
