• Yankees Have Lost 4 Of Last 5 Sudden Death Post-Sesaon Games

Well, that’s not a good sign. Worse, they have lost 6 of their last 9 sudden death playoff games. And, if not for Grady Little and Billy Beane, these numbers would be even uglier.

You forgot to mention that the road team has won the Game Fives in the other two LDS thus far.

      Therefore…………………………….

      Scary thought.

I don’t have much confidence for today’s game. CC gives up 3 early runs, NY batters are silent, NY bullpen gives up a few more, some late fireworks from Yankee offense, but too little too late.
Then again, it’s impossible to predict, and I’m usually wrong.

      @ nwyank:
It’s literally impossible to predict. CC could go out there and be as dominant as he was in Game 1. No reason why he can’t, he’s seriously that good (I’m afraid Yankees fans are beginning to take his greatness for granted for some strange reason).

The problem for tonight isn’t CC, it’s that the entire lineup is completely impotent.

Unless he just doesn’t have it, you have to believe Sabathia will be out there at least 120 pitches. Robertson & Soriano pitched the last two days.

I will be surprised if CC goes more than 6 IP.
Lots of pressure in this game. He may be maxed out after six.

I’d be curious to know who started for the Yanks in those sudden death games? If it was their so called Ace or not?

      @ Steve L.:
I’d be shocked if he didn’t go more then 6. At this point the team whose starter last the longest has the advantage since both bullpens are taxed. I’d like to see CC pitch into the 8th….I think as long as he is doing well Girardi will leave him in up to 120 pitches. Unless he is getting ripped 120 pitches will put him close to 8 innings.

Bottom line is CC is the Yankees best pitcher and if he doesn’t put up a big outing, then they don’t deserve to win.

Oh, and scoring a couple of runs couldn’t hurt either.

The way our offense is going and the way our bullpen has been taxed CC will have to pitch a complete game shut-out for us to have a shot. I have zero faith in this team right now. It’s all on CC tonight.

    11. October 12th, 2012 | 1:25 pm

This is sudden death. I don’t think anyone gets any slack. If CC gives up two and is about to give up a third, I think he’s coming out of the game, no matter what the inning.

The question is: Who comes in if it’s early in the game?
It can’t be Hughes. I doubt it’s Kuroda. Would it be Pettitte?
Please don’t say Derek Lowe. I swear, every time I see him pitch, I can see him sweating booze.

      @ Steve L.:

Someone has to be ready to pitch tomorrow, so it won’t be Pettitte.

Something nobody thought of is that because of the 5 pm start, the shadows will be effect between home & the mound the first few innings, so those early runs scored, if any, will be huge.

We need a big hit, like Posey’s grand slam, and then hold them down just enough. Still think the Yanks are better. They have yet to prove it, however.

      @ MJ Recanati:

Agreed on both points…CC is one of the best there is. Odds are in his favor.

It’s the offense (except for Jeter) that’s the problem. Let’s hope this lineup shake up helps.

121 pitch complete game. That’s why you pay the big man.

      CC did OK, I think.
