Trevor Bauer

I find it very interesting that the D’backs are reportedly shopping Bauer.
What’s up with that? Is he too opinionated and high-maintenance for them? Or, do they think that he’s not that good now?
If he’s dealt, someone is going to get stung and someone is going to get lucky on this one. But, I have no idea who will be who?

Apparently he’s too smart for his own good and refuses to take coaching/criticism that would help him make the adjustments required to maximize his obvious talent/stuff.
In other words, he’s got some maturing to do. The D-Backs won’t trade him unless they get an equally-talented pre-arbitration player in return (or a player with money left on his deal and cash coming to Arizona to offset the cost).
If I’m the Yanks, I do what it takes to get Upton and Bauer in a package. Do whatever you have to. Both are unbelievably talented.
Or….maybe Arizona sees a mechanical flaw in his delivery that will lead to inevitable injury down the road…..cough, Michael Pineda.
FWIW, he has some bad Tweets on Obama. Maybe the organization sees him as a Jr. Schilling and doesn’t have the tolerance for ball players with big mouths?

Nope, he pulled attitude in Arizona this year and refused coaching. I got this from a guy in the Phillies organization that spends time working with the scouts in the southwest. Pretty common knowledge around the game that Bauer has been difficult to work with and refuses to make the adjustments he needs in order to translate his amazing stuff from college to the pros.
And, again, that being said, I’d still trade for him. Great arm.

Kind of. They don’t like his mouth or his attitude but they’re not trading him unless they’re blown away by the offer. They’re not actively shopping him, they just want to know what a $6M bonus baby stud would fetch.
I’ll take Bauer in Pinstripes anyday
