Andrew Brackman, who the Yankees took with their #1 draft pick in 2007, is now a minor league free agent looking for a place to pitch in 2013.
But, he’s not the worst 1st round pick made by the Yankees since Brian Cashman has been G.M.
You can pick many who were/are worse than him:

I don’t get the 2,000 days reference in this post. The Yanks released him last year.
2000 days between being a 1st round pick and being without a contract now.
The difference between now and last year? I don’t think anyone will take a flier on him now.
The draft is a crapshoot for everyone… Plenty of teams of have horrible 1st round picks on a regular basis.

Why not? Given the state of pitching in MLB & MiLB, I’m sure a team will give him a shot somewhere.

There will always be a place in my heart for Andy Brown — he was the worst single A player I’ve ever seen. I am sure he was scouted by Stevie Wonder.
I saw Andy Brown and Chad Sutter play in Staten Island back in 1999. So much for that team…the best player to come out of it was Andy Phillips, by far.
When Brian Cashman was first hired as the Yankees GM he stated that talent evaluation was not his strength. He has done nothing over the past 14 years to disprove that.
BOHAN wrote:
Agreed but most of the Cashman apologists defend his incompetency with regard to the draft by stating that the Yankees don’t pick high enough to obtain impact players.
