Good trade for both but I really like it for the Nats. Werth belongs in LF as he ages, a Span/Harper outfield pretty much covers all the real estate from left-center to the right field pole, and Span adds a little bit of speed to a team that didn’t have much of it overall.
And with the rotation being set with Zimmermann, Gonzalez and Strasburg, Meyer was depth that they could afford to trade to add their everday CF.
Now they go:
CF Span
RF Harper
LF Werth
3B Zimmerman
1B Morse
SS Desmond
2B Espinosa
C Ramos/Suzuki
