Curtis Granderson For Gavin Floyd?

Me? I would do it, take Nova out of the rotation and side Gardner over to center, and then get a right-handed power bat for left. Floyd would be great insurance if Pettitte or someone else breaks down. He would be a #2 or a #3 in the Yankees rotation now, easy. And, you can never have too many, good, reliable, starting pitchers.
Ugh no. Gavin Floyd STINKS. Trust me, I’ve unfortunately had him on my fantasy team the last two years and have watched the bulk of his starts. STAY AWAY.

Gavin Floyd is a #4 in the big leagues, not a #2. He wouldn’t be a #2 on this team unless both Kuroda and Pettitte missed time and, even then, he’s of comparable aptitude to Phil Hughes.
I’d also like to add that the trade proposal makes no sense from Chicago’s perspective. With Viciedo in LF, De Aza in CF, and Rios in RF, Granderson would be a more expensive option than two of those three and Adam Dunn is firmly ensconced at DH. Chicago probably won’t keep Floyd past 2013 but they wouldn’t double the salary slot to add an outfielder they don’t need.
The team should deal Granderson, but there’s probably a better deal out there somewhere…
If this team was going to trade Granderson, it should’ve done so after the 2011 season, coming off his near-MVP season. Trading him now is selling low, and Gavin Floyd is about all you’ll get for him, unless you’re willing to gamble on prospects.
And what, exactly, is available to trade for a “right-hand power bat”?
