So, since he’s on the market – but not willing to go to Seattle – would you want him on your team? What would you be willing to trade for him?

I’d give up the farm for this guy. Don’t let his numbers from last year fool you, he played with a broken bone in his hand and it didn’t properly heal all season.

I’d give up the farm as well. For the life of me I can’t understand why Arizona is so hell-bent on trading him and I think they’re going to regret it for a long time.

      @ Corey:
      @ MJ Recanati:
I have to wonder if this is going to backfire on them – like when the Reds traded Frank Robinson. Or, if this is a case where like the Brewers traded Gary Sheffield and there were other reasons why they just wanted the guy out of town.

      @ Steve L.:
I imagine the former and not the latter. People seem willing to confuse the moody BJ Upton for his more personable brother Justin. I really can’t tell why all the backlash for Justin in Arizona.

I put it at under 10% but if the Yankees can land Justin Upton, it’ll be a tremendous coup and a good move for the direction of the franchise.

Imagine if he went to the Mets. Would the Yankees get heat for that?

I am sure people would manufacture indignation just for the drama.

The Yankees have more assets in the lower levels of the farm system than the Mets do although the Mets have a few MLB-ready assets I imagine Arizona isn’t trading for guys unless they’re at least at the AAA level. For that reason, the Mets might have the better package to offer Arizona. That being said, the Mets would be foolish to blow out the upper levels of their farm system since they’re still clearly not going to contend with Upton in 2013-2015.

I read an article in ESPN Magazine saying he can be a little hardheaded at times. But that was more when he first came up.
I would def give up quite a bit for him. Any idea what Arizona is looking for?

Still can’t say the Brewers were better without him playing third.

I really don’t get what’s going on in Arizona. I’m thinking Kevin Towers doesn’t either.

No idea…they wanted a shortstop in the fall but they traded for one.

I’m sure if the M’s make it worth his while, Upton would agree to a trade there. a NTC is just a bargaining chip, like anything else.

By similarity scores, the top 10 Justin Upton comps at the same age are:

Ruben Sierra (958), Jack Clark (933), Tony Conigliaro (931), Ron Santo (926) *, Andruw Jones (926), Greg Luzinski (917), Del Ennis (916), Grady Sizemore (914), Cesar Cedeno (913), Johnny Callison (909)

Santo, as indicated is the only one in the Hall of Fame, but that’s a reasonably impressive list.

I would give up quite a bit for Upton. How much? I dunno, really. Have to think about it.
