Rough around the edges; but, a brilliant baseball manager. One of the best ever.

Man. Funny little guy too. Probably chasing Ron Luciano around now 😀
Sad news indeed. I enjoyed Singleton’s stories about Weaver during telecasts.
A great, great, great manager.
In those early days of free agency, the Orioles were hit real hard at times, but Earl always seemed to have them in the mix.
My favorite Weaver story is the one Jim Palmer tells when Earl called a clubhouse meeting after they lost five in a row and reamed out a silent room for 10 minutes before stating that there were two things in Earl’s own playing career he never did: leave a man on 3rd with less than two out, and he never made the last out of a game.
At that point, Palmer piped up from the back and said, “Yeah, that’s because they always pinch hit for you!!!” The room cracked up, even Earl sprout a grin, and the Orioles went on to win that night to end the losing streak.
