I can say that if I had a son, NFW, does he get into organized football. I’m feeling about football like I felt about boxing, when Ali got his head trauma induced Parkinson’s Disease. Won’t watch it anymore, and I’m feeling that about football……..
@ KPOcala:
I hear you. My 8-year old, who plays baseball, basketball, and used to do trampoline, has asked about football many, many times. And, we won’t let him do it. He already plays hardball and hoops like a Kamikaze. The last thing I want to do is give him a helmet and pads, with order to seek and destroy. He’s better off keeping his knees and brain. They come in handy as you get older.
Last night, Obama said if had had a son, he wouldn’t let him play football either.
Baseball is having its share of concussions too, and w/ some awful results – look at Ryan Freel.
@ redbug:
True. The Freel thing was terrible.
But, there are so many now in the media, and former NFL guys too, who say they will never let their kids play football.
The long-term societal trend is toward the banning of football at all levels. You may think it impossible, in light of the Super Bowl, and all the money and hype that goes into it.
But it’s not.
