As one would expect.
Sickening.

Sickening as in: His representation as a G.M. with 4 world championships (1998-2000; 2009) in the interview by mlb.com. Its 2013, and The Stalking Horse is still riding Jeter, Pettitte, and Rivera, or players from championship teams drafted or signed by preceding general managers; I’m surprised Posada wasn’t invited to camp to compete for, or fill, the starting catching vacancy.
Sickening as in: “[Our] offseason shopping was fine, [and we capitalized] off of a poor free agent class by picking 3 of top 5 free agents at least, and secured the best assets collectively… without long term commitments.” Three top free agents that happened to have been named Kuroda (a 38-yr.-old starting pitcher that did not want to pitch elsewhere and was signed to a 1-yr. contract), Pettitte (a 41-yr.-old starting pitcher that did not want to pitch elsewhere and was signed to a 1-yr. contract), and Rivera (a 43-yr.-old relief pitcher that did not want to pitch elsewhere and was signed to a 1-yr. contract).
The “winter program” was “successful” in that they “secured” Pettitte and Rivera…

Playing both sides of the fence in an argument? Imagine that!

No, my major objection to Cashman is that he occupies the position of Sr. V.P. and G.M. There is no other side to this fence. He has been in the position more than long enough to demonstrate that the Steinbrenner family should reassign the son of its close person friend to another position within the organization and bring someone external to the organization with some knowledge and intelligence in relation to the game of baseball, and personal responsibility into the front office capable of winning more than 1 World Series with $2 billion in spending in 10 years.

Demonstrated to you, perhaps.
But the key members of the Steinbrenner family don’t think so, and they’re a lot closer to the situation. Doesn’t make them right, necessarily, and they could change their mind in a hurry, but my life experience tells me that most of the time, people in the situation know a lot more about than people outside the situation.
