A-Rod’s Only World Series Ring For Sale
Via CBS -
Alex Rodriguez’s only World Series ring is up for auction, although Rodriguez himself is not the one who consigned it.
As 1010 WINS’ Gene Michaels reported, Rodriguez’s 2009 World Series ring is not being sold by the Yankees third baseman himself, but by an auctioneer who bought it from his cousin, Yuri Sucart – the man A-Rod said convinced him to use steroids.
Memorabilia auctioneer Ken Goldin bought the ring from Sucart for $5,000, and consigned it to auction, according to published reports.
Michaels asked Jim, a Yankees fan, if he would like to be the proud owner of A-Rod’s World Series ring.
“It would be pretty awesome, actually,” Jim replied.
The ring goes up on the auction block starting Monday at GoldinAuctions.com, with a minimum bid of $5,000.
“I don’t think I can afford that,” Jim said.
And some think the ring might garner $40,000 when the auction ends April 5.
Apparently, for A-Rod, the ring is not the thing.

So, Steve, how much are you bidding for it?
You could do like what the Cub fans did with the Steve Bartman baseball & blow it up, though that really hasn’t worked out for them, has it?
It’s not A-Rod’s ring. It’s a replica.

Why does the report then say “Alex Rodriguez’s only World Series ring is up for auction”?

In Philadelphia, it’s worth 50 bucks.

@ throwstrikes:
Here’s the ring: Apparently he requested a 2nd ring for his cousin & it’s an exact duplicate of the player’s ring and not a lesser ring that might be given to scouts, office assistants, etc.

Amazing. Thanks. Didn’t the Yankees ban his mule cousin at the start of the 2009 season? And, yet, the Yankees gave him a ring. Classic.

Which goes to show you how low the motivation is for teams to actually do anything about PED’s. Sucart was “banned” only insofar as he was made invisible.

If Alex asked for two rings, do the Yankees really need to ask who the 2nd ring is for?
I don’t really get how the Yankees are being roped into any of this as somehow turning a blind-eye.

Knowing A-Rod, if I were the Yankees, I would ask…better that than to be surprised when the ring turns up on the finger of some dead she-male stripper found dead in a dumpster in Miami…

I imagine this is your attempt at humor.
The fact of the matter is, even if the ring ended up on the finger of an Al Qaeda terrorist, it would be irrelevant. Garcia’s right, it doesn’t really matter who the second ring is for. If the Yankees wanted to grant Rodriguez’s — or anyone else’s — request, that’s a private matter.
I would reason that any additional ring A-Rod received was paid for out of his pocket, not the Yankees. Maybe Boss George would quietly have funded that request back in the day, but under the direction of Hal & his appointed penny pinching stooges, Lurch & Secret Squirrel, I’m sure they passed the bill to Alex for that one.
