Blue Jays Manager John Gibbons on Mariano Rivera:

“It’s just the way he carries himself. The dignity. There’s no fanfare. He doesn’t rub anything in. He just goes out and beats you and walks off the field. And then you hear the music.”

Amen. I really hope that the next closer for the Yankees doesn’t have some sort of ass-clown act about him. Not so much for me – but, for the kids. They do see this stuff and imitate it.

I hope the next Yankees closer doesn’t do the ass-clown routine for me because it’s absurd to celebrate like Game 7 of the World Series 30-50 times a year.

Steve, you may as well just own up to it that it bothers you too. It’s bothersome to most people (except Fernando Rodney or Joba Chamberlain fans).

Of course, it bothers me. But, I also realize that the game is changing. Lots of things bother me in the game. Doesn’t mean they can/will go back to the way I want them…so, I have sort of thrown up the white flag on a lot of this stuff…
