Remember the good ol’ days, when Michael Kay was A-Rod’s media mouthpiece?

Immediately after Meredith Marakovits reported today that Brian Cashman had said on a conference call earlier that Dr. Dan Murphy confirmed Alex Rodriguez’ quad is improving and that A-Rod “was in agreement” moving forward with an August 1 goal for a simulated game…Arod confirmed Michael Kay’s suspicions of blind support and opinion buying as he appeared tonight, again, with his good buddy Mike Francesa.

    Surprise, surprise, surprise.

Asked if he trusted the Yankees and their process, Rodriguez said: “Um…..I’d rather not get into that. I’m just frustrated that I’m not on the field tomorrow. I’ll leave it at that. He added, “My frustration is obvious, but I’m going to put my head down here and get back to New York as soon as I can.”

Asked why his lawyer was with him, Arod answered, “I just wanted to make sure that everything was documented properly.”

    Doesn’t sound like it.

“I told Cashman and Randy (Levine) that I’m ready to play, that I want to play tomorrow,” A-Rod said. “I made it very clear … Obviously I’m very, very disappointed because I thought tomorrow night would be the perfect night to come back and get in the lineup.”

The Yankees front office these days tends to hold a grudge. At what point to they go after Francesa for continuing to give A-Rod a platform for this stuff?

Unless everyone’s in on the gag, I mean, plan, I mean, uh, media manipulation, uh, I mean…well, you get the idea.

They never went after Francesa and Dog when they were critical of how they treated Zimmer. In the past, Francesa has been extremely critical of the organization before. I remember him going off on them with the treatment of Bernie, too. + the Torre situation, too.

I can’t see the Yanks winning if they go after Francesa, he has radio show that’s on for 5 hours everyday. He can just unleash holy hell on them. The Jets aren’t doing too well in that department. The Knicks were getting beaten up pretty bad on his show, but they still went on and he gave them a fair shake. If he’s crossed, from what I can tell, he gets pretty pissed and doesn’t fall asleep like he did on Sweeney.

If A-Rod truly is healthy shouldn’t he be in the line-up? If he truly is healthy and is being held back then aren’t Cashman and Levine putting their egos ahead of the team? Cashman has repeatedly said A-Rod is a better than average third baseman. If he is healthy shouldn’t he be playing then? I’m no A-Rod fan but if he makes the team better then let’s play him.
