• And, We’re Back…

I just got back from a little family vacay in eff-el-aay…where my wife and I took the kids to WDW.

We left our house at four-fifteen on Monday morning – yes, four fifteen! – and, we got back home at twelve-thirty last night…uh, I mean, this morning.

Everything that appeared in this blog (posted by me) over the last five days was set up in advance to publish as a “chron job.”  It was done way in advance, before last week, since I knew that I would be gone.

What I miss? I know it started with the A-Rod/Dempster thing. I was watching that game after I turned off my PC for the week – knowing that we were going to be away. And, it ended with the Rays schooling the Yankees last night. (My father-in-law told me about that one when he picked us up at the airport last night.) Did something happen in between?

I see from quickly scanning the comments here that some missed me (thanks!) and others didn’t play nice in the sandbox. (More to come on that latter – after enough warnings on that, it’s time to call some people out and try and get this to stop.) And, some think that the Yankees are now back in the race for a post-season berth…

I will have some “fresh” commentary posted over the weekend. While down in Florida, two Yankees stories caught my eye that I just have to make note of here, soon, albeit after the fact.

In the meantime, let me just say, for my buds out there:

The Yankees are 68-60 this year. They are 12-1 against the crappy Toronto Blue Jays and 56-59 when playing everyone else. Wake-up people. This team is pretenders, not contenders…

…but, you knew I was going to say that.

Despite the early departure and late arrival home, I hope you and your family had a great time, Steve. I was going to venture into the speculation re your postings but decided it wasn’t worth it.

I doubt the team will make the playoffs but they’re more interesting to watch lately. The major downers, for me, are seeing Arod in the lineup, and not Derek Jeter.

I’ve also liked seeing Robertson close a couple of times and getting the saves – the 1st one despite the fans chanting that they wanted Mo. He’s obviously no Mo, no one can be, but I think he’ll do well.

You say, “it’s time to call some people out and try and get this to stop.” I hope after you call them out, you’ll throw them out.

      Welcome back!

Should’ve hit me and KPCOcala up, we would’ve brought you a (root) beer :D

I guess one of the stories that caught your eye was the powwow in Tampa?

      Thanks guys.

Yes, we had a good time. It was hot – one day the real feel was 109. And, it was more crowded than we expected. But, the kids had fun. (This was our third time there in the last 5 years.)

Lots to do here – travel fall ball team has a game tomorrow. And, work will not be fun next week, after being out this week. But, I will get to posting again soon…and dealing with some of that stuff I mentioned.

      @ Steve L.:
Yeah, I really haven’t gotten used to the humidity (I’m about 45 min to the north, in Sanford). Disney has been packing them in, despite the raise in ticket prices. Overall, it’s peak tourist season, so I’m not surprised there were so many people attending.

I haven’t made it to Disney yet, it’ll happen soon now that I’m an official FL resident, and the offseason (with less people) is coming.

      @ Raf:
Do it in the off-season, for sure. It’s fun. But, it’s not as much fun when you’re waiting in lines and dealing with monster crowds.

      @ Steve L.:
Perhaps inadvertantly, you weren’t too far off. the CRON system was named after the Greek god Chronos. So I could see the mistake.
