The Yankees just did what they needed to do, in Baltimore, albeit in sloppy fashion. Now, it’s up to Boston for three games – against the Red Sox…who killed the Yankees when they were in the Bronx recently.
And, New York is two games back, in the all important loss column, behind the Tampa Bay Rays, for the second wild card berth for the American League…with just 15 games to play.
Needless to say, the Yankees have to win at least two of three in Boston…if not more. Can they do it?
Kuroda, Sabathia and Nova are lined-up for the Yankees in this series.
For those scoring at home: Kuroda has a 6.52 ERA over his last five starts. Sabathia has a 5.63 ERA in his last 5 starts. And, Nova has a 3.66 ERA over his last five starts.
Seeing that, I suspect the Yankees bats will have to do all the heavy lifting in this series…
