Cano to Cashman: “If you’re worth $3 million per, I’m worth at least $30 million per…”

I applaud Jay-Z’s team for leading people to believe that they’d be more reasonable than Scott Boras and then pulling the rug out from under us all.

Obviously it’s smarter to ask for the moon and then settle for only the stars and I’m certain that no one in baseball is going to meet this demand.

Having said that, I expect that Cano will get a mega offer from at least a couple of teams and is no better than a 50/50 to stay in New York (which I’m fine with). The only caveat is if Randy Levine and/or Hal Steinbrenner decide to match any offer. If that possibility is in play, Cano is very likely to stay here through his 40th birthday.

      BAZINGA!

There has to be a bazinga coming, this can’t be a serious number. If it is, wish him the best as he walks out the door(does anyone think the Mets might be stupid enough to sign long term deal with Cano).

      I can’t stop laughing.

In my best John McEnroe whine…”You cannot be serious!”

      Adios.

It doesn’t matter what he asks for; it only matters what the market dictates. He’s the only “superstar” on the market this year. When the supply is so limited, the price will soar. Some own will dole out $200 million+ for at least 8 years.

I think it was funny. You don’t have to if you don’t want to.
