From 1987 to 2012, it’s been everybody except the 1992 Braves, right?

17 of the last 18, by my rough count and memory. Or, am I missing one?

Red Sox rolling with nine straight World Series wins

Streak started with 2004 sweep of Cards, continued with ’07 win vs. Rockies

“… The Boston Red Sox are on their way to a little bit of history…

Their nine-game World Series winning streak is tied with the Reds of 1975-76 and 1990 for the fourth best behind great Yankees teams of different eras. The Bombers hold the top three. The Red Sox haven’t lost a World Series game at Fenway Park since the 1986 Fall Classic…

“The Yankees of [general manager Gene Michael], manager Joe Torre, Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Bernie Williams among a cast of star players hold the record of 14 World Series victories in a row from 1996 to 2000.

The streak began in 1996 after they went down 2-0 to the Braves. They went on to win four in a row to take that World Series, swept the Padres in ’98 and the Braves in ’99, before winning the first two games of the 2000 World Series…

The Yanks won four World Series titles in five years, winning 16 out of the last 17 games across those four Classics.”

      Boston’s and Cincinnati’s streaks each span decades…

16 wins in 17 games against different N.L. Champions over 5 consecutive seasons, with the greatest closer of all-time in the bullpen, a no. 2 hitter that would finish his career among the top-10 of all-time in hits, and borderline Hall of Famers up the middle and in the rotation… That has “mostly luck” written all over it, Cashman apologists.

      @ JeremyM:
There’s speculation a substance such as pine tar was used by Lester to get a better grip on the baseball on a cold night.
